| | What is bioenergetics? As a bodywork technique, bioenergetics seeks to release the energy in tense or "blocked" areas of the body and alleviate chronic stresses and chronic muscular tensions. |
How is bioenergetics practiced?
Bioenergetic therapists study muscular patterns developed through physical expression and muscular tension. Patient treatments include exercises and expressions to help them experience these muscular tensions in addressing repressed emotions, rather than the normal psychological therapist techniques. Bioenergetic therapists use this muscular healing approach as a way to understand the personality of the client in terms of the body and its energetic processes. Often they will discuss how tension in the body may directly relate to a person's emotional history and childhood relationships.
What is bioenergetic analysis?
Bioenergetic analysis is a form of psychotherapy the analyzes the body's energetic process into a specific process. The idea is that a person's psychological traits, such as personality, are manifested in the expression of the body. Body language says a lot about a person because physical expression translates how that person is feeling. For example, a person's posture, handshake, eye contact and tone of voice can say a lot about that person's mood and state-of-mind.
Bioenergetic therapists analyze their patients' behavior and then help treat their patients' conditions with certain movements and body techniques. But in order to do this, bioenergetic therapists need the training and expertise to be able to diagnose problems and recommend treatment plans based on those diagnoses. Bioenergetic certification helps therapists gain this expertise and schooling.
Bioenergetic certification and degrees available
Bioenergetic certification is available, and the bioenergetic therapist career is becoming more popular as natural health degree careers are beginning to be recognized by mainstream culture.
