BCMT, celebrates over 34 years of educational excellence and is recognized around the world as a premiere provider of massage therapy education. Our programs offer a powerful combination of educational excellence and balance among classic Western massage; bodywork in the Eastern tradition; clinical massage specialization; and bodywork focusing on the integration of mind, body and spirit. BCMT is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), which is listed by the US Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency. The college has been granted a Certificate of Approval by the State of Colorado Division of Private Occupational Schools. BCMT is also an original member of, and has been a participant in, the AMTA and Council of Schools since 1988. BCMT is also approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork as a continuing education provider. Boulder hosts a range of educational, cultural and alternative health care resources. Boulder also enjoys an average of 300 days of sunshine throughout the year, moderate temperatures and low relative humidity. Our ProgramsThe Boulder College of Massage Therapy offers a 760-Hour Massage Therapy Certificate Program, an Associate of Occupational Studies in Massage Therapy Degree and Continuing Education courses through the Advanced Bodywork Studies Certificate program. 760-Hour Massage Therapy Certificate Program (CMT)BCMT students learn four hands-on modalities: Zen Shiatsu, Swedish Therapeutic Massage, Normalization of Soft Tissue, and Integrative Therapeutic Massage. These modalities are the cornerstone of our program. They are supported by coursework in the human sciences, psychology, ethics, and career development. In addition, we offer electives in other popular massage modalities and techniques.
Service Learning OpportunitiesAs part of their experiential training, our students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a variety of work environments while giving back to the local and global community. Our students volunteer at hospitals, hospices, schools, athletic programs, elder care facilities, animal care facilities, and at fund raising events for area nonprofits. Student Clinic ExperienceThe BCMT Student Clinic is well established in Boulder. Our clinic provides over 8,000 massage/bodywork sessions to the community each year. Equipped with 12 private rooms, students gain valuable hands-on experience while working with a wide range of clients in a professional and supervised setting. Career PreparationOur personal and professional development classes teach students the basics of running a successful private practice as well as the ins and outs of employment in the massage therapy industry. Students learn how to create a business plan, develop marketing materials, acquire clientèle and manage day-to-day operations. Our graduates gain the knowledge and qualifications necessary to practice massage therapy in all 50 U.S. states and most countries. Upon graduation our students have everything they need to start employment or their own private practice. Supportive Learning EnvironmentWe believe that an optimal learning environment includes committed and caring faculty and staff, an academic tutorial program, and a broad range of teaching techniques that address different learning styles. We maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio so our students receive the benefit of personalized attention. Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) Degree in Massage TherapyBCMT is one of the first massage therapy colleges in the US to offer an AOS in Massage Therapy Degree. This postgraduate training is offered exclusively to BCMT graduates, and allows students to choose a focused track of specialization, mastering techniques which are immediately applicable and beneficial to their clients. Graduates from BCMT's Certificate Program can acquire an AOS degree in as little as six months, part-time.
