Our Hands are a Gift

Our mission is to provide quality instruction in the art and science of therapeutic massage, in an environment supportive of personal wellness, consciousness, and transformation. Learning and practicing massage is more than a technical education - it is a life choice to dedicate oneself to a path of service. For some students this may mean avocational healing work with family and friends; for others, employment in one of the growing wellness and medical fields now open to massage therapists.

Our program meets national and state certification requirements for 600-hour massage therapy training. Our graduates have had a consistently high level of performance on the National Certification exam. They have established successful practices, worked in holistic or conventional health facilities, and entered the teaching profession.

Our Approach

Throughout the program an atmosphere of respect, trust, compassion, and service is practiced. Small class size and the classroom environment are supportive of the development of students' focus, grounding, and sensitivity as well as the mastery of knowledge and techniques. Practical, supervised clinical and outreach programs are a required part of the curriculum, complementing our academic program.

Individual learning styles are supported through use of a variety of teaching aids, methods and library resources. We are flexible in our approach to students' needs. Up to 250 hours of advanced placement credit for students with demonstrated knowledge and/or participation in other recognized educational programs of massage is available, and we can accommodate leave of absence and scheduling needs.

We are able to maintain this flexibility in part because of the conscious decision not to seek additional accrediting bodies' standardization requirements; this limits our ability to meet governmental financial aid requirements, but we are willing to make arrangements with students for extended tuition payment plans.

The Blue Ridge School of Massage and Yoga is certified to operate by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia.

Tuition

Tuition for the 600-hour program is $7,900. When the admissions deposit of $50 is sent in with your application it will be applied toward your tuition. Tuition includes books, materials and a massage table.

Schedule

The Blue Ridge School of Massage and Yoga offers 12-month afternoon and evening programs as well as a 9-month morning program.

We also offer continuing education programming for certified massage therapists throughout the year.
