Who We Are

Lee M Thorpe, MA, ADTR, LMT, ABT, and John M. Thorpe, RCST, NCTM, LMT, CHT, FSL, are the owners, administrators and primary instructors of The Bodhi Tree Center for Healing Arts. After training and working in the Complementary and Alternative Medicine field for 20 years in the Chicago area, John and Lee moved to Northern Nevada in 2003, and began teaching at schools in the area. In 2007 John and Lee purchased Baum Healing Arts School of Massage in Carson City, renaming it The Bodhi Tree Center for Healing Arts. Since then, John and Lee have been expanding this already successful Massage Program, bringing their unique education, insights, caring and talent to massage education.

Lee Thorpe holds Master of Arts in Dance Movement Therapy since 1993, and has been designing and facilitating group movement and growth experiences at venues as varied as hospitals, universities and spiritual retreat centers. While Lee has developed a mastery of many forms of massage, she has a special affinity for Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Asian bodywork called Zen Shiatsu.

John Thorpe specializes in bodywork development and has created two exciting styles of bodywork, Rejuvenation Massage and Interactive Fascial Therapy. He became involved in the healing arts in 1984, specializing in multiple forms of massage, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Energy Healing, and Aromatherapy. John is also a published writer, poet, and an exhibited artist and photographer.
