The Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Fitness Training

Fitness Trainers work in health clubs, fitness studios, rehab facilities or independently as personal trainers. Personal trainers guide and motivate clients to reach their peak fitness potential. They assess the fitness needs of clients and develop plans based on them. Personal trainers provide personal training, present classes and instruct on proper nutrition.

Personal trainers must have a strong understanding of the functions and vital processes of the human body so they can effectively design and deliver personal nutrition and physical fitness training programs. Creativity and determination are important characteristics of fitness technicians.

A good personal trainer must be energetic and motivating, always encouraging their clients to reach their maximum performance. Personal trainers must continually strive to understand advances in the industry and stay current with new equipment and techniques.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy has achieved unprecedented popularity in recent years. Twenty-five million American make 60 million visits to 85,000 practitioners a year. Career opportunities are on the rise for the licensed massage therapist including private health clubs, day spas and resorts, beauty salons, corporations, stress reduction/relaxation centers. Opportunities lie in health care working in association with other health practitioners such as chiropractors, medical doctors, dentists, physical therapists, and psychologists.

The professional Massage Therapy Certificate program teaches the art and science of massage therapy, while also teaching sound business practices, which prepare students for success in the marketplace. In the professional Massage Therapy Program at Carrington College (Formerly Apollo College), students learn light energy work as well as deep-tissue modalities, Spa Therapies, Infant massage, Shiatsu, and how to treat specific pain and dysfunction, as well as a holistic approach to health and healing.

As a graduate of the professional Massage Therapy program's didactic and laboratory therapy instruction, the graduate would qualify to sit for the National Certification Exam administered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. The certification program NCBTMB is approved by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCAA), the accrediting body of the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NCOA).

Physical Therapy Technology

Physical Therapy Technician assist the Physical Therapist in helping patients recover from illnesses and injuries. They assist in the physical therapy treatment plan for patients in order to restore muscle function, relieve pain, and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body parts. A Physical Therapy Technician may aid in a therapy treatment program that may include exercise, electrical stimulation, ultrasound and massage therapy. They also instruct and motivate patients in isometric and ambulatory exercises.

They may also work with other patients to overcome the emotional and physical barriers that may hinder recovery.

Most Physical Therapy Technicians work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, clinics, physician offices, nursing homes, home health agencies, adult day care programs, schools, wellness and community centers, and in private industry. Graduates may also choose to train and test as Personal Trainers, opening many doors for successful careers in Fitness.
