CurriculumThank you for your interest in the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy. It is truly one of the most exciting times in our history to begin a career in Massage Therapy. We have seen the field grow to respectful new heights over the past 10 years. CIMT, in last 19 years, has had the opportunity to play a significant role in garnering respect for massage therapy as a valid profession within the health care community. Our goal from the beginning has been to constantly reassess, redefine, and revise our curriculum to meet the standards of excellence expected by clients, doctors, sports professionals and therapists in the existing medical health care community. We are the only 1,150 hour program to include International Certification in Neuromuscular Therapy (IANMT). We also offer a 100 hour SPA Certification Course and Personal Training Certifications! Graduates of CIMT have continued this tradition by practicing ethics and skills portraying a high standard of excellence in the community. Clients are reporting enhanced quality of life and functional improvement to their primary care providers. Doctors and therapists striving for health care are beginning to embrace massage therapy as an integral part of a health care plan for individuals who entrust themselves in their care. Currently CIMT is affiliated with the Centura (Penrose-St. Francis) Health Care System to develop one of the first hospital based massage therapy certification programs in the United States. CIMT also is one of the first massage schools in the United States to hire a massage therapist to work in a hospital system with a team of physical therapists. Students from CIMT have the opportunity to do a clinical internship at Penrose Hospital, at Namaste Alzheimer's Center, or at UCCS (college athlete sports internship). Skilled Massage Therapists trained in medical and injury rehabilitation, such as CIMT graduates, can fulfill the growing needs of all three areas of health care - preventative, injury rehabilitation, and maintenance care. We invite you to consider investing your time and energy in career planning at the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy. One of the most important investments you will ever make in life is in your career. Choosing a school such as CIMT, that is a leader in progressively recognizing and planning for future trends in health care, is one of the wisest decisions you will ever make in that process. The Institute's Founder and Education Director Togi Kinnaman developed the Colorado Institute of Massage Therapy's specialized system of Trigger Point Therapy. After receiving a thorough grounding in anatomy and physiology, the student will learn to isolate problems of pain and stress in the body. By studying referred pain patterns, range of motion theory, and postural analysis, the student will learn how to provide relief to millions of people who are suffering pain from an injury. This will enable the student upon graduation, to serve a large and varied clientele. We are on the cutting edge, paving the way for others to follow. You are welcome to join us - send in your application today to reserve a space in the massage therapy program that is literally shaping the future. Mission
