D'Youville College

D'Youville College in Buffalo, NY, offers a transdisciplinary approach to the health sciences that brings chiropractic into mainstream education. Embedded in the college/s 100-year history of liberal arts and health science disciplines, our new, fully accredited, integrative chiropractic degree program is the first of its kind nationwide and prepares chiropractic students as skilled leaders in their own profession and as respected partners in collaboration with diverse health care professionals.

Chiropractic students are trained as primary-care doctors who provide a direct portal of entry into the health care system for people, using non-invasive and drugless care to foster the body/s innate ability to heal itself. Classes bring together several allied health professions to exchange theories and techniques that are held in common with chiropractic, while advanced courses in distinctly chiropractic skills, diagnostic imaging, spinal manipulation and physiological therapies are taught exclusively by chiropractic faculty. Case management encompasses complete care, often including nutrition counseling and exercise, and, when appropriate, mutual consultations with other health care specialists, thereby rendering the highest level of patient care.

The D'Youville Program

There are two degree formats, both built on a broad foundation of core humanities, the biosciences, and extensive hands-on chiropractic skills training:

  • A seven-year, two-degree format in which the pre-professional degree is a bachelor/s of science in biology (BS), awarded at the end of the fourth year, followed by a doctor of chiropractic (DC) professional degree, at the end of the seventh year. Students who go on to the professional degree are admitted directly to that program without having to reapply. Additionally, undergraduate tuition rates apply throughout the seven years.
  • A four-year, one-degree format that leads directly to the doctor of chiropractic degree (DC), which is open to persons who have completed at least 90 credit hours of specified courses.
  • Both formats are designed for full-time study and include three summers.
  • Second-career students who hold a degree in a health science discipline may qualify for advanced standing.
  • Students who have a baccalaureate degree, but do not meet all the science requirements, may take the Pre-Professional Sciences Option, which affords accelerated sciences scheduling.
