Massage Therapy

Do you want to be a part of a field that promotes well being and higher quality of life? This program provides you with the foundation, skills, knowledge, and training needed to start a practice or seek employment as a massage therapist. We want to train people to excel as healthcare professionals in the expanding market of massage and bodywork. This program includes an entry-level curriculum in the area of soft tissue dysfunction and massage therapy. A balance of academic knowledge, technical expertise, clinical skills and manual dexterity can provide you with a competitive advantage in this ever-changing field.

The Massage Therapist program provides you with a solid base of knowledge through instruction and hands-on training in the areas of:

  • Swedish and deep tissue massage
  • Neuromuscular therapy
  • Orthopedic assessment
  • Movement anatomy and pathology

You will learn how to properly assess and document massage sessions, as well as communicate effectively with insurance professionals through medical terminology, pharmacology, and documentation classes. Additional courses include medical law and ethics, adjunctive therapy, and business management, providing a well-rounded educational experience.

Employment is expected to steadily grow over the next few years. There will be an increased demand for massage services for management of pain and prevention of physical disabilities from injury or disease.

Licensure, Approvals, and Memberships

The University is a nonsectarian, coeducational institution with authority to confer associate, bachelor, master degrees and diplomas. The University is licensed by the Florida Commission for Independent Education. Undergraduate and graduate programs are approved by the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization and by the Florida State Approving Agency for Veterans Training. All campuses are members of the Career College Association.
