Florida College of Natural Health - Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Florida College of Natural Health (FCNH) is a Steiner Education Group (SEG) member along with Baltimore School of Massage, Baltimore School of Massage/York, PA and Virginia School of Massage. The four campuses of the Florida College of Natural Health offer degree and non-degree programs in Massage Therapy and Skin Care. Five Associate of Science Degrees with a concentration in Natural Health are also offered at FCNH.

The AS Degree in Advanced Therapeutic Massage combines the students' knowledge of massage with specific training in the treatment of sports injuries, pathology, medical terminology and documentation, and massage interventions. This program provides certification in Sports Massage and Neuromuscular Therapy. This degree will equip the graduates with the skills necessary to pursue careers within the medical and athletic communities.

Due to industry demand for more qualified therapists, FCNH has added two new AS degree programs in Massage Therapy and Spa Training and Massage Therapy and Physical Fitness. The Massage Therapy and Spa Training was developed to augment the students' knowledge of massage with specific training in spa treatments and spa operations. Students will learn body treatments which will include body exfoliations, body masks, hydrotherapy, and body wraps. Bodywork techniques will include stone massage, lymphatic drainage, Shiatsu, reflexology, craniosacral and deep tissue. Upon completion of this program graduates will be marketable to resort, destination, day, medical and cruise ship spas.

The AS degree in Massage Therapy and Physical Fitness will combine the students' knowledge of massage therapy with specific instruction in health related physical fitness. This program will address the four entities of fitness: Cardio-respiratory endurance, muscle strength, nutrition (body composition) and flexibility. The practical segment, Fitness Practicum, provides demonstrations and supervised hands-on instruction in client assessment, facilitated stretching and resistance, strength and cardio-respiratory exercises. Graduates of this program will be marketable in the massage and fitness industry at above entry-level positions as degreed massage therapists, physical wellness consultants and personal trainers.

Paramedical Skin Care provides hands-on training to prepare the skin care student to be marketable in the medical community. The program provides training in pre and post-operative skin care treatments, lymphatic drainage, medical terminology, dermal oncology, product ingredients and camouflage make-up along with a holistic approach with classes in Ayurveda, herbology, nutrition for the skin and aromatherapy. The goal of this program is to equip Skin Care practitioners with the skills and techniques beyond entry-level into medical offices and medi-spa practices.

An AS degree with a concentration in Therapeutic Massage and Skin Care prepares the graduate to assume the responsibilities of both professions. Graduates will be able to sit for Florida State Board exams for licensure in Therapeutic Massage and registration as a Facial Specialist. This dually skilled graduate will have a thorough knowledge and understanding of both theory and hands-on techniques in each field.

FCNH is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT) and the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA). All Steiner Education Group schools offer Financial Aid to those who qualify, are approved to enroll non-immigrant alien students (I-20's) and are approved for Veterans Training.

Job placement assistance is available for graduates at any of our locations. Graduates of the Steiner Education Group schools are given priority consideration when Steiner Leisure Ltd. is recruiting for their maritime or land-based spas. FCNH offers convenient day and evening class schedules.
