We offer an accredited Master's degree program in Five Element Acupuncture with the option to study Chinese Herbs. Our intensive-based format, along with our focus on the Five Element tradition, results in a one-of-a-kind program not found elsewhere in the country. Our program is particularly compatible with the needs of adult learners and individuals who are strongly motivated and who favor flexible learning structures.

About the Academy

Academy for Five Element Acupuncture is a nationally-accredited graduate school offering a Master's degree program in Acupuncture and a Certificate in Chinese Herbal Studies. Since its inception in 1988, the Academy has been dedicated to teaching the Five Element tradition. Many years of refinement have helped us create highly distinctive programs.

Five Element Acupuncture is based on learning through the senses. While the basics of the didactic work are written down, the majority of the learning involves developing the heart, the intuition and the senses of the practitioner as a complement to the analytical process. As part of this process, students' self-development and inner work are an essential part of becoming a practitioner.

About Our Program

• Our Master of Acupuncture program can be completed in 36 months. During the first two academic years of study, classroom instruction is presented in 14-day long teaching intensives, instead of the customary weekly classes offered at most other schools. The intensives, held quarterly, are followed by a 12-month clinical internship at the school in Florida.
• A principal advantage of our unique structure is that students do not need to reside in Florida for the first two calendar years of the program.
• Throughout our program we strongly emphasize a curriculum that is deeply rooted in the ancient natural wisdom of the Five Elements and traditional Taoism.
• Our Five Element programs are particularly compatible with the needs of adult learners and individuals with significant prior life experience, who are strongly motivated and self-directed, and who favor flexible learning structures.
• We are a small school. Each student receives highly personalized attention--you will not be an invisible "face in the crowd" at the Academy.
• In addition to our Five Element Acupuncture program, we offer a Chinese Herbal Studies program that is designed to complement our Five Element focus.
• Our teaching faculty live all over the US--most are experienced clinicians with busy private practices, as well as gifted instructors in acupuncture and herbal studies.
• Academy students demonstrate high levels of personal maturity and commitment. Most have at least a bachelor's degree, and most have significant experience in other professions before beginning our program.
• Master of Acupuncture (M.Ac.) degrees are awarded to all our acupuncture program graduates.
• We enroll acupuncture and herbal students from literally all over the US--in fact, a majority of students reside in states other than Florida.
• Our nationally-accredited programs in acupuncture and Chinese herbal studies satisfy licensure eligibility standards in most US states.
• Our graduates usually return to their hometowns and set up successful acupuncture practices. They become financially viable, while also greatly improving the quality of life within their communities, creating positive changes in health and well-being.
• Our program for Florida licensure is 3,050 hours, including 960 hours of clinical training.

Requirements

Generally, you will need a minimum of 80 semester credits of baccalaureate-level education, plus other biomedical courses. Please see our catalog and website for specific requirements.
