Welcome!

There are many reasons for a person to make the leap to learn the skills necessary to massage. Our students typically tell us the following reasons why they chose massage and why they chose Gwinnett College - Sandy Springs.

1. They wanted to be a positive influence for others and be able to make a difference in others' lives.

2. They always seemed to have a knack for massage.

3. They have the future goal of working for themselves.

We here at Gwinnett College - Sandy Springs have had a long history in the field of Massage Therapy. Founded in 1994, our original name was the New Life Institute. As our school began to grow and the field of massage began to advance, we decided it was time for a change. In 1999, we changed our name to the Rising Spirit Institute of Natural Health. A couple of years later, our little school became not so little as we added a satellite campus in Marietta and became accredited by ACCSCT, which then allowed us to offer Federal Student Aid to eligible students. In 2006, our little school merged with Gwinnett College in Lilburn, GA (accredited by ACICS), and now offers additional programs and services to more Atlanta residents. Most recently, we have undergone another transformation by moving our main campus from Dunwoody to the city of Sandy Springs and have renamed our little school Gwinnett College - Sandy Springs!

Now, for a little information about our Massage Therapy program. The purpose of the program is to train you, the therapist, to be able to work in a variety of environments. We have had graduates work in many areas, from the relaxing day spas to the rigorous environments of chiropractic offices to natural health clinics. Our program is more clinical in application (versus being spa-based) and includes a solid foundation in learning the structure of the human body including classes in Anatomy and Physiology, Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Kinesiology and Pathology. Our "signature" course is NeuroMuscular Therapy, which is a very specific form of clinical, therapeutic massage that treats the cause of muscle related conditions.
