An increasing number of corporations have used on-site massages as a means of providing care for their employees, which ultimately benefits the organization in employee morale and productivity.
Professional ResponsibilitiesMassage therapists apply their training to the areas of overall health promotion, stress reduction, pain management and injury recovery. Massage is a healing art as well as a science. It requires both academic and technical knowledge, clinical skills, manual dexterity, and sensitivity. To become a massage therapist, you must have the desire to help others, as well as a commitment to investing the time and energy to develop the required skills. Our CurriculumYour training at Herzing College, prepares you to observe and assess the client's musculoskeletal system, then propose and implement a treatment plan. In addition to health care training, students are provided with a small business start-up curriculum for future entrepreneurial opportunities and self-employment. After completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the Certified Massage Therapist exam offered by the National Certifying Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB). After GraduationThe goal of all your hard work is, of course, a job in your profession. That's why each Herzing graduate works personally with our employment services department to identify employment opportunities in massage therapy. Massage therapists can be found employed with physicians, chiropractors, acupuncturists, dentists, and physical therapists or in particular specialties such as sports medicine and health clubs We have attained full NCA affiliation. Herzing College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association. Physical Therapist AssistantThe Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant (ASPTA) will prepare students to take the National Licensing Examination for Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and to begin a professional allied health career. Students are provided a foundation of general education including courses in the natural sciences, the social sciences, mathematics and humanities as well as the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to work in a health care environment. Theoretical instruction is complimented with clinical experience in a variety of health care settings in order to provide a broad, holistic and reality-based understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a professional physical therapist assistant. Students will participate in planned clinical and laboratory experiences that will complement classroom learning and will stress health promotion as well as disease processes.
