Keiser University is part of the Keiser Collegiate System which was founded in Fort Lauderdale nearly 25 years ago and now has more than 4,600 students in 12 locations throughout Florida. Keiser University campuses are located in Pembroke Pines adjacent to Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Port St. Lucie.

Associate of Science - Physical Therapist Assistant

Keiser University's Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapist Assistant prepares students for employment as a skilled licensed health care worker under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist. A physical therapist assistant assists in the management of conditions such as:

• Arthritis
• Amputation
• Fractures
• Cerebrovascular accident (stroke)
• Spinal cord injuries
• Traumatic brain injuries
• Wounds
• Developmental delays
• Cerebral palsy
• Cardiac and pulmonary pathology
• Sport injuries
• Work injuries
• Other types of injuries and/or pathologies

Program Objectives

The following objectives are designed to meet Keiser University's mission and its objectives. Graduates of the program are prepared to enter the workforce as entry-level physical therapist assistants by:

• Implementing treatment programs as directed by a physical therapist
• Competently performing data collection skills necessary for a plan of care
• Effectively communicating both verbally and in writing with healthcare team members and patients
• Participating in patient education as directed by a physical therapist
• Demonstrate a commitment to learning
