Associate of Science in Massage Therapy
The objective of Keiser University's massage therapy program is
to prepare students for an entry-level position as a massage
therapist. Students will develop the skills necessary to meet the
needs of the health care community.
This program provides instruction in therapeutic massage with
knowledge of the structure and function of the human body.
Students receive training in some of the following areas:
- Hydrotherapy
- Sports massage
- Therapeutic massage
- Body systems
- Spa theory and technique
In your massage therapy program you will come to understand the
body as a whole and dynamic organism of which the systems are
interrelated and dependent upon one another. Each of these
systems is also explored independently to gain knowledge of the
importance of their individual roles.
The massage therapist program at Keiser University also covers
current trends in spa therapy including:
- Paraffin baths
- Hydrocollators
- Thermaphores
- Hot packs
- Ice packs
There will be an emphasis on the most common ailments the
professional massage therapist will encounter with clients.
Appropriate massage intervention as well as prevention techniques
are covered. Additionally, topics such as range of motion,
passive range of motion, manual and resistive tests, and
orthopedic testing are covered.
Bachelor of Science - Dietetics and Nutrition
Keiser University's Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics and
Nutrition combines clinical evaluation, community concerns, and
food service management into a profession long valued for its
service to individuals and the community at large and focused on
proper nutrition and the prevention of chronic diseases. The
Coordinated Program in Dietetics is unique since the didactic
instruction is integrated with the supervised practice. Following
graduation, students are eligible to take the Registered
Dietitian (RD) exam to become licensed and begin practicing as a
dietitian in a variety of settings.
