Professional Massage Therapist - Diploma

These courses are for those interested in furthering their therapeutic techniques. They are designed to build on previous knowledge gained through work in the field.

Sports Massage
A study of pre- and post- performance, increased performance and injury prevention massage techniques for the athletic client.

Oriental Theories
This course teaches traditional Chinese medical theory and practices, including holistic health care, five element theory, acupoints, nutritional considerations and traditional Chinese diagnostic procedures.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage
This course provides a thorough foundation in the lymphatic drainage treatment approach developed by Emil and Estrid Vodder.

Advanced Massage Techniques
This course explains a variety of advanced level treatment modalities, including deep tissue methods, neuromuscular therapy, trigger point techniques and soft tissue release.

Spa Modalities
This class will teach the student basic spa modalities, including stone massage, basic mud and seaweed treatments, how to perform exfoliation using a dry brush, as well as salt glow and body polishing techniques.

Cranial Sacral Therapy
This course introduces the student to craniosacral therapy, which is based on the concept of dynamic activity involving cranial bones. These techniques can be used to treat a broad range of client complaints including temporomandibular joint dysfunction, tinnitus, dyslexia and depression.

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is the use of therapeutic oils extracted from natural plant matter in order to encourage good health, equilibrium and well-being. This course explains the use of oils in conjunction with massage for specific benefits. Carrier oils and recipes for mixing oils will also be presented.

Reflexology
This course will cover how reflexology as a modality is related to massage therapy. The student will be able to define reflexology, including zone therapy, and have a clear understanding of the anatomy and physiology of basic reflexology theories.

Professional Massage Therapy Specialist - Associate's

Our exclusive degree program prepares you to join the exciting profession of massage therapy. Learn to provide a wide range of treatment options and work with other health care professionals on rehabilitation health care teams. Develop the skills to work in a variety of settings, including salons, health spas and cruise ships, or you may choose to start your own business in this growing area of the health care field.

Our associate degree program, which can be completed in 15 months, provides training in the foundation skills of Swedish, Deep Tissue and Sports Massage in the first academic year. The second academic year expands proficiency with a wide variety of treatment modalities, such as:

  • Pregnancy and pediatric massage
  • Manual lymph drainage
  • Cranial sacral therapies
  • Medical massage
  • Chiropractic assisting
  • Reflexology
  • Aromatherapies
