Your Future is in Your Hands

Los Angeles College of Chiropractic

A Tradition of Excellence Since 1911

Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC) is a name that is known worldwide today as the pioneer and leader of innovative chiropractic education.

Our dedicated faculty and motivated student body are brought together in an atmosphere of common commitment - helping people live healthy lives with the practice of natural, drug-free, non-invasive health care. This community of scholars, practitioners and learners is one of the reasons for our long-standing reputation for academic excellence.

Accreditation

This quality is also reflected by our accreditation. Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCU) is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) and California State. This accreditation is unequalled by any other alternative health care institution, offering chiropractic, & acupuncture on the West Coast.

The doctor of chiropractic degree program at Southern California University of Health Sciences is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE), 8095 N. 85th Way, Scottsdale, Arizona 85258-4321.

Innovative Teaching/Active Learning

LACC was the first chiropractic institution to break away from traditional instructional methods and our most recent curriculum reflects that dedication to innovation. Appropriately names the ADVANTAGE Program, the College's curriculum was the first to reduce actual lecture hours while increasing lab time and individualized instruction. This dynamic approach emphasizes professional competencies, rather than academic subjects, and is designed to develop primary health care providers.

The Program also encourages students to explore thought-provoking questions about specific health problems and then apply answers to situations. At other facilities, rarely do theory and application occur until later in a student's educational experience. At LACC, it happens on day one.

In addition, there are numerous opportunities for students to become actively involved in various aspects of our unique Southern California lifestyle. The 38-acre tree-lined campus offers athletic playing field, tennis courts, volleyball court and a weight room/gymnasium. Students can also participate in over 20 clubs and organizations, including the Associated Student Body and other groups representing an array of social, spiritual and cultural interests.

The Intern Experience

During the final terms of a student's course of study, internships provide excellent opportunities to enhance doctor-patient skills. Interns serve at one of the University's two health centers and, in addition, may participate in rotations at local community health facilities, homeless centers or student health centers on local university campuses. Interns are also at the heart of LACC's involvement in key charity events, such as the California AIDS Ride, AVON Breast Cancer Walk and Catalina-to-Santa Monica Multiple Sclerosis Swim.

Preceptorships also assist qualified students earn additional clinical hours in an established doctor of chiropractic's office. Here, interns receive exposure to current practice procedures and become acquainted with patient management methods. The end result of these invaluable experiences is a highly trained doctor of chiropractic, proud of self, the profession and the contribution that will be made to others over many years of patient care.
