ProgramsWellSpring School of Allied Health offers open enrollment and continuing education workshops in the areas of energy healing, health and wellness, massage for everyone and spa treatments. Personal Training and Wellness ProgramWellSpring School of Allied Health's accelerated Personal Training and Wellness program can help you find the tools needed to transform your passion for fitness into a new career as a Certified Personal Trainer. The personal fitness program offers campus-based experience featuring hands-on training — delivered by experienced instructors, active in the industry. Upon completion of your fitness instructor and nutrition courses, you can have the knowledge and confidence to assess fitness and sports performance clients, and design training programs to help them meet their goals. The program features a double certification as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), and includes training in wellness, nutrition and other longevity-enhancement practices. As a result, graduates can be qualified to help clients across all wellness dimensions in their quest for optimal health. At the core of the personal fitness certification program in Kansas City and Lawrence is the exclusive evidence-based OPT model developed by Dr. Michael Clark - physical therapist for the NBA's Phoenix Suns, and a leading advocate of performance enhancement among professional athletes. The beauty of Dr. Clark's model is that it works just as effectively for family fitness training as it does for high-powered professional athletes. By enrolling in our accelerated daytime program (two full days a week) or evening/weekend program (two evenings a week and about one weekend per month), a student can complete the program in just 6 to 9 months. Some courses included in the Personal Training and Wellness program are Personal Fitness Training, Corrective Exercise Training, Concepts in Wellness, Counseling Skills, Exercise Science Basics, Stress Management Facilitation, Environmental Influences on Wellness, Fitness Center Operations, Business Practices and Club Externship. Massage Therapy ProgramWellSpring School of Allied Health's Diploma in Massage Therapy is designed to help provide a comprehensive foundation in bodywork technique, anatomy and physiology, and business practices. This program also helps prepare graduates to be nationally certified--an important credential for entering the massage profession. Upon completion, graduates may be eligible to sit for the National Certification Exam and for licensing in most states and municipalities. Our massage program features training in advanced, neuromuscular techniques, which are increasingly called for in medical and athletic venues. Preparing graduates to work in partnership with physical therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers and medical doctors is given major emphasis in our program. Beyond this, our incorporation of a basic wellness curriculum is also seen as a differentiating benefit of the program. Massage practitioners increasingly find that clients are craving direct and honest guidance about how to maintain a healthier lifestyle in general. Our program helps prepare practitioners to provide this guidance with the inclusion of classes on stress management, nutrition and general wellness concepts. Students who enroll in our accelerated daytime program (two days a week, no evenings or weekends) can complete the program in less than 12 months. Our evening/weekend program (two evenings a week and about every other weekend) allows students to complete the program in just over 13 months. Our program includes classes such as Basic Swedish Massage, Anatomy and Physiology, Specialty Massage, Advanced Massage Techniques, Assessment and Documentation Skills, Eastern Bodywork Techniques, Communication Skills, Kinetic Anatomy, Sports Massage, Wellness and Nutrition, Pathology, Business Practices, Clinical Internship and a wide range of other complementary therapies.
