The National Personal Training Institute of Colorado offers a 600-hour personal fitness trainer course and is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as an approved career technical school with Title IV / Federal Student Financial Aid. These workers are expected to gain jobs because an increasing number of people are spending time and money on fitness, and more businesses are recognizing the benefits of health and fitness programs for their employees.

Job Prospects – Opportunities are expected to be good for fitness workers because demand for these workers is expected to remain strong in health clubs, [and] fitness facilities. Trainers who incorporate new technology and wellness issues as part of their service will be in more demand.

A Complete, Comprehensive Personal Training Program

Our unique 600-hour program teaches both the theoretical and practical (hands-on) application of program design, exercise science, Kinesiology, diet, nutrition, working with special populations, weight management, and more. We use the latest NSCA, ACE, NASM, AAHF and other leading certifications' textbooks and certification materials. We pay* for 50% of your CPT exam fee if you pass (up to *$150.00 reimbursement).

You will have the choice to take these electives and prepare to take the associated certification from ACE, AAHF, NSCA, Kickfit, HeartZones and NASM:

*(500 base course hours + 100 elective hours = 600 hours total)

Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) (elective) - providing the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) based content required to pass the NASM - CES certification. You will learn how to apply the advanced knowledge required to with personal training clients suffering from musculoskeletal impairments, imbalances, or post-rehabilitation concerns.

Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) (elective) - providing the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) knowledge of how to work with athletes at a competitive level while avoiding injury.

Training Older Adults (elective) - Utilizing the internationally known "Senior Fit" content from the American Academy of Health and Fitness (AAHF), you will attend workshops and complete home study programs that will propel your career abilities to work with the fastest growing segment of the population ... baby boomers (the 50+ client)!

Tactical Performance Enhancement (TPE) (elective) - Targeting the physical needs of SWAT, police, fire, EMT, military and other professionals whose real-world is not so much winning or losing an athletic event but more so life and death in a crisis situation.

Bootcamp / Group X Training (elective) - learn how to market your boot camp, design and implement proper (and safe) boot camp exercises. You will cover a wide variety of popular and varied techniques including stretching, yoga, kettlebells, body shaping and more in the unique, dynamic BOOT CAMP environment.

Cardio Programming / HeartZones Training (elective) - using the world renowned training developed by IronMan competitor and international triathlete Sally Edwards, you will learn how to write a cardiovascular program ... many trainers talk about it, few can actually do it!

KickFit Training (elective) - utilizes martial arts based, group training and in a corporate wellness type of format. KickFit uses a 3-pronged approach based on Strength Training, Cardiovascular Endurance, Balance, and Flexibility.

Kettlebell Training (elective) - learn the basics of the fastest growing functional exercise in the U.S. Kettlebells have been in Eastern Europe for over 700 years and are attributed to some of the highest levels of fitness in the world. Kettlebell training has been described as "twice the results in half the time".

Starting your Own Business (elective) - You'll learn how to find clients, retain clients, and how to sustain a career as a personal fitness trainer. Learn how to differentiate yourself as the best personal training business and the obvious choice for personal training clients.

Training Obese Children / Adolescents (elective) – With physical education becoming totally "optional" in high schools around the country and a sedentary lifestyle becoming more predominant with our youth, it's no wonder that juvenile diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, and serious weight related issues are becoming more present. Learn how to reach, train, and educate our youth in basic physical fitness.

A hands-on, practical and rigorous academic training program

You'll put 1,200 – 1,400 hours into this program. About a third of that will be hands-on / practical experience. A third will be in the classroom with a rigorous academic curriculum. A third will be special projects, case studies, and preparatory work you will do at home. You'll learn the latest techniques, tools, and program designs using kettlebells, free weights, fit balls, plyometrics, cardiovascular and selectorized equipment such that your clients KNOW the programs you offer are safe, progressive, results oriented, and exciting.

While enrolled with NPTI Colorado, you will be taught material required to pass the ACE "Lifestyles and Weight Management Consultant (LWMC)" certification!

As an ACE-certified Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant, you will learn to assess your clients' body composition and unique training needs. By recognizing what motivates them, you can identify how to effectively communicate nutritional advice and determine the best way to help your clients safely achieve their goals.
