What Makes Northwestern Unique?

Founded in 1941, The College of Chiropractic at Northwestern Health Sciences University is a revolutionary school with innovative ideas and practices that have led, and will continue to lead, generations of chiropractic doctors to the forefront of their profession.

It is our mission to advance and promote natural approaches to health care, so we graduate only those health professionals who will advance the frontiers of natural health care through lifelong learning, research and exceptional service. Our graduates strive for professional and personal excellence, act with compassion and integrity, and view their patients' health in ALL of its dimensions: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Our resources, from the Greenawalt Library to our fully stocked anatomy and technique labs to our pioneering University public clinics, are unsurpassed in quality. As we have always done, we will continue to grow and change to meet the needs of our society in the face of an ever-changing health care system.

Doctor of Chiropractic

Northwestern's doctor of chiropractic program consists of 10 trimesters and more than 4,200 contact hours, typically completed in three and a half years. Our faculty have extensive clinical experience and professional achievements that they bring to the classroom. They consider the students as future colleagues and treat them as such.

Ours key strengths include:

  • Our basic sciences, clinical, chiropractic and business education is unmatched in preparing students for clinical practice.
  • Northwestern has a limited enrollment, allowing for a more personal and close-knit atmosphere among its international student body and easy access to our extraordinary faculty of PhD's, DC's and MD's.
  • Northwestern's methods lab classes include hands-on training every trimester.
  • We put learning into practice through a practicum experience that includes five full trimesters in a clinical setting.
  • Northwestern has pioneered an extraordinary clinic system, with a University public clinic system, more than 150 internship sites in private practice clinics, a range of clinical partnerships with social service agencies, and final term opportunities around the world.
  • Northwestern's practice management courses begin in the first trimester and provide students with the business skills necessary to succeed in clinical practice.
  • Students can complete their undergraduate requirements and Bachelor of Science Degree at Northwestern.
  • Strong preparation for national board examinations.
  • Northwestern's Wolfe-Harris Center for Clinical Studies has an international reputation in scientific research.
  • For those who qualify, financial aid is available through federal, state, institutional and private programs.
  • The Career Services office assists students in finding jobs after graduation.
