The Parker Path to SuccessParker College of Chiropractic welcomes the School of Massage Therapy, the newest program in Parker College's 25-year proven tradition in holistic health care education. Opened in January 2007, this massage school and clinic gives scholars the opportunity to learn and practice various massage techniques including Eastern modalities, myofascial release and neuromuscular therapy. The massage school teaches the art of healing through a natural health and wellness model, while the structured clinic internship prepares students for professional practice. In addition to a comprehensive curriculum, students have the advantages of intimate classroom sizes, hands-on experience and the opportunity to work with professionals in the field. Students also have available to them career counseling to aid them in finding the right position. Comprehensive Massage Therapy EducationWhether your goal is to practice relaxing massage therapy or to work closely in a wellness or rehabilitative setting, you will graduate from this massage school fully prepared to contribute to the health of your clients. Our entry-level program includes over 320 hours of education in the science of therapeutic bodywork and over 200 hours of classroom, lab and clinical courses. Overall, this 600-hour program will assure that you will be fully prepared to contribute to the health of any client through direct intervention, knowledgeable referral or wellness advocacy. And when it is time to rest for a moment or two, students can find some comfort under the towering trees amidst the many sparkling fountains throughout the campus. Our vision for the future of health care is firmly based upon the principles and examples entrusted to us by our founder, Dr. Jim Parker. Program of StudyThe course of study is an 8-month academic program. Our 600-hour comprehensive entry-level program prepares leaders in the field of massage therapy through a solid grounding in the science of health care and over 300 hours of the finest clinical and hands-on training available today. This certificate program was specifically designed so that graduates will be fully prepared and qualified to sit for the National Certification Examination in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. We are proud to offer an Evening schedule of classes for our students starting in September 2008! Classes will run Monday through Wednesday from 6pm-10pm and Saturdays from 8am-5pm. Clinical InternshipThe Parker School of Massage Therapy Intern Clinic creates the opportunity for the public to receive discounted massage therapy services while providing our students the opportunity to develop sound therapeutic skills in a structured and supervised environment. Clinic I rotation takes place after all Trimester I academic and skill classes have been successfully completed. Clinic II rotations are scheduled concurrently with Trimester II coursework. Our state-of-the-art massage clinic provides a relaxing and private environment for patients and students. Financial AidEligible students have access to the standard federal loan and grant programs, as well as funds from private lending. Students seeking financial assistance have the opportunity to meet with a counselor to discuss their specific needs. A payment plan is available. Student LifeParker students are exceptionally active in student government, intramural sports, clubs and associations. On campus are a café and large lunch area, vending machines, public access computers, world-class library focused on health care, gross anatomy laboratory, and a fitness/activity center which includes gymnasium, free weights and weight stations, track, and other amenities. AccreditationParker is a coeducational institution chartered by the State of Texas. It holds nonprofit 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service.
