What is the Phoenix School? The Phoenix School of Holistic Health is a state approved school offering quality education in the healing arts. Established in 1986, the eighth school registered in the state, we are now one of the longest running schools in Texas. We have two campuses open in the Houston area. In our eleven years, we have graduated over 500 professionals to the rewarding field of Therapeutic Massage. What Does "Holistic" Mean?In studying massage and bodywork from a "holistic" aspect, we take the whole person into consideration not only their aches and pains. Considering the whole greater than the sum, allows the Phoenix therapist to personalize the massage. Holistic MassageSM developed at the Phoenix School is an integral part of this holistic protocol. Holistic MassageSM develops a massage plan precisely tailored to the client's constitution. Outstanding results are experienced by the client. Holistic MassageSM is published in major journals in massage and bodywork including The Encyclopedia of Bodywork. Holistic MassageSM was created at the Phoenix School of Holistic Health and is introduced in the Basic Program. What Do We Teach? The Phoenix School offers the basic 300 hour course for certification in massage therapy as well as an outstanding graduate program. In the beginning program, you will receive instruction in both traditional and classical Swedish massage technique as taught by per Henry Ling. Special emphasis in the basic course is placed on Massage Body MechanicsSM. Massage Body MechanicsSM is the necessary ingredient for giving massage in a stress free, manner. There is simply nothing better anywhere! Massage Body MechanicsSM was developed at the Phoenix School of Holistic Health and will compose the chapter, "The Science of Table & Body Mechanics," in the upcoming edition of Massage Therapy: Principles & Practices (by W.B. Saunders Publishing Co.). Integral to the core curriculum, you will receive thorough training in Anatomy and Physiology, Hydrotherapy, Health and Hygiene and Business Practices and Professional Ethics. This basic course work is 250 hours. Upon completion, the student enters the Intern Clinic for 50 clinic hours where s/he provides massage to the public. Our graduate program brings together the leaders in body therapy from around the world. Our motto for the graduate program is "Only the Best Will Teach." This is a world class training program given to the students who seek the high level skills as well as additional hours for other states where required. Throughout the two programs, Phoenix provides high quality holistic health instruction and a truly supportive faculty and staff.
