Pennsylvania Institute of Massage Therapy

It is the Pennsylvania Institute of Massage Therapy's mission to provide students and graduates with the support that is needed to be a success in the field of Massage Therapy. This support is in the form of:

Knowledge:
Education that will help a graduate maintain a successful therapeutic massage practice and will teach the student how to be a successful Massage Therapist through business skills and physiological techniques. To give opportunities for ongoing education through seminars to allow for therapists to advance in their massage profession.

Advice:
Always being available to answer questions that students and/or graduates may have.

Encouragement:
Always being available for support when a student and/or graduate needs someone to talk to about their personal or business life. To give the encouragement that is needed to optimize their potential in the field of Massage Therapy.

Vision

The vision of the Pennsylvania Institute of Massage Therapy is to have an Institute that emphasizes a curriculum based on the physiological aspects of Massage Therapy, yet at the same time, informs the students of the many adjunct therapies involving energy work. In this way the student will be empowered to work within the health care community with the equal footing of other professionals.

Licensure

Licensed schools must comply with strict guidelines with respect to honoring their contract with the consumer, including giving you all of the schooling which was promised to you. Also, state licensure provides you with a third party to consult should you have any complaints with the school. We are happy to report that none of our students have had to use this avenue of grievance, but it is nice to know that it is there should you need it. PIMT is a state licensed school.

Our Clinic

A clinical experience is extremely important to the student massage therapist. This is where you have the opportunity to work on the various body types and personalities of the public. Also, there are knowledgeable staff members present should you have any problems or questions. This is where you gain the experience that potential employers are looking for! The PIMT student clinic is open all year long to benefit both the students and the local public.

Why do I need formal education?

Simply put, to know what you are doing! Health care providers (including Massage Therapists) need to know about the Anatomy and Physiology of the body in order to properly modify their massage to maximize benefit for the client. There are also people with conditions which should not be massaged at all. Additionally, the Therapist must know how to administer a wonderful massage without sacrificing their own body. Proper body mechanics go a long way to ensuring that you will not cause yourself lower back pain, wrist pain, etc. Need more reasons? Get in touch with us!
