Texas Chiropractic College at a Glance

Texas Chiropractic College was founded in 1908, and is the fourth oldest chiropractic college in the nation. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education.

Location

Our 16-acre campus is located in Pasadena, Texas (pop. 125,000) - just 20 minutes southeast of downtown Houston and approximately 40 miles from the beaches of Galveston. Pasadena is easily accessible by Interstates 45 and 10 as well as the Sam Houston Tollway.

Enrollment

Our current enrollment of nearly 400 students is composed of students from approximately 40 states and 10 foreign countries.

Classification

We are a non-profit, professional college offering the Doctor of Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology.

Academic Year

The curriculum is based on a trimester system. Ten trimesters (3 1/2 years) are required to complete the requirements for graduation in the D.C. program. Trimesters begin in early September, January and May.

The newest building on campus, the Iwama Educational Center, features an innovative assessment center, laboratories, 45 faculty offices and 750-seat auditorium.

Academic Requirements

Prospective students entering Texas Chiropractic College must have:

  • Two semesters each, with labs: Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and General College Physics.
  • Two semesters of English.
  • One semester of General Psychology and 15 semester hours of social sciences or humanities electives.
  • Minimum 90 semester hours total, cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, grades of "C" (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better in required courses.
  • Good academic standing from previous institutions.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available in the form of Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Federal College Work-Study, Federal Stafford Loans, Plus Loans, ChiroLoans, Texas Equalization Grants*, State Appropriation Grants* and VA benefits.

Special Programs

We offer hospital rotations, preceptorship and postceptorship programs for interns in the Moody Health Center as well as Postgraduate Studies and Extension Courses.

Special programs include: Chiropractic Diagnosis & Management of Internal Disorders; Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner (CCSP) course; Clinical Nutrition; Acupuncture certification course; Pain Management program; certificate program in Pharmacology.
