THE WIND AND WATER SCHOOL OF FENG SHUI:A Feng Shui Training ProgramCarole Hyder is the founder and main instructor of The Wind and Water School of Feng Shui. She began her program in 1998, organizing material she had received from His Holiness Grandmaster Professor Thomas Lin Yun, the founder of Black Sect Feng Shui. The training has developed into a six-part program based on Professor Lin's material and Compass master Roger Green's perspective. Over 200 students have graduated since 1998, all integrating Feng Shui into their lives in different ways. The program is now available not only in a classroom setting but also in DVD format. Two of her first students from that initial class back in 1998 have been integrated into teaching positions with The Wind and Water School of Feng Shui, guiding and directing students during their initial phases of study. The program is highly interactive with a high priority in strengthening the confidence and wisdom of each student. Eventually everyone participating will develop their own style and their own approach to incorporating this Chinese art of placement into their lives. The insights gained from observing hands-on appointments, from practicing the meditations for uplifting ch'i, and from networking and supporting others in the group will all assist in this process. Whoever chooses to become a student of Carole's will be encouraged to "live" Feng Shui not only in their physical space, but also their inner space. An emphasis will be placed on creating a private, sacred sanctuary in the home so that the strength and clarity gained from its influence can be shared and expressed in appointments, family life, friends, job and life in general. First Phase of Training
The first part of the training program, Embracing the Experience, is a study format embracing experiences, process and information as students incorporate the spirit of Feng Shui in their hearts. The program is based entirely on Black Sect Feng Shui, otherwise known as a more Western version of Feng Shui. It is comprised of three modules, three days each, or twenty hours per module. During these three intensives, students will receive material appropriate to the basics of Feng Shui: adjustments, meditations, drawings and blue-prints. In addition, they will observe the format and procedure of private consultations. Second Phase of TrainingThe second phase of training, Deepening the Experience, is for those who are interested in pursuing Feng Shui as a career or in making it an integral part of life. Deepening is required for certification. This part of the journey consists of three modules, two days each, or sixteen hours per module. The Deepening the Experience Program strengthens the information provided in the first phase, continues consultation studies, introduces some elements of the Compass School, and embarks on an in-depth analysis of the Five Elements. Students will be required to do a specified number of practice consultations, complete an independent project and pass a written test. Before being accepted into this second phase, a student must have completed the first phase, Embracing Experience, and must have formally applied. The format of the program enables students to be exposed to Feng Shui material, integrate it in their own lives, and use it to help others. The students can then return to the classroom to process their findings and results, or contact Carole to discuss their observations. Because the classroom course takes approximately 18 months to complete, the students support each other and often develop long-lasting friendships. It gives them an expanse of time to work with the material, get feedback, ask questions and attain clarity. Carole insists on keeping the classes to small enrollments (none over 18) in order to get to know each student and to be able to monitor individual progress. Correspondence Format
The entire training is available as a correspondence course using DVDs. They are a combination of taped experiences in the classroom and separate, personal comments by Carole, guiding the material along and explaining the next step. Each correspondent student must travel to Minnesota, at their convenience and at an agreed-upon time, to attend at least one of the modules with an ongoing class. A correspondent student is regularly mentored by Carole throughout the training via email and phone conversations. Carole Hyder has been practicing Feng Shui since 1992, having studied with Professor Thomas Lin Yun and Roger Green. She has authored two books: Wind and Water: Your Personal Feng Shui Journey and Living Feng Shui: Personal Stories. In addition, she has produced a DVD entitled The Science of Feng Shui: How and Why Feng Shui Works. She has a regular monthly television spot on a local network and just completed her Master's in East Asian Studies from the University of Minnesota.
