What is Pilates?
Developed by Joseph H. Pilates, this is an exercise technique that places great emphasis on the mind-body connection. A combination of calisthenics and yoga, it serves to strengthen the abdominals and back muscles to provide greater structural support.
How is Pilates practiced?
Teachers work with clients with using special equipment and individualized instruction to promote physical harmony, balance and conditioning. This has been a particularily popular therapy for sports clinics or gyms to offer because of the practical applications to the needs of the athlete or weekend warrior.
What Pilates degrees or certificates are available?
Certification programs are open to any interested student.
